S&ME names new manager in Knoxville

Knoxville, TN - Randy Martin, a registered professional engineer with 17 years of engineering experience, eight of them in branch management, has been named manager of S&ME’s Knoxville branch.

S&ME is a leading engineering, testing and environmental firm with 22 offices in the Southeast and has operated a Knoxville branch since 1988.

Martin began his career with S&ME as a staff professional in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1993 after earning a B.S. degree in civil engineering from Clemson University.  He later served as Spartanburg’s construction services manager before being promoted to manager of S&ME’s Asheville, North Carolina branch.  His experience includes two years of construction quality management for S&ME’s Legacy Highway project in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Martin later managed S&ME’s Wilmington, North Carolina branch.

Before assuming Knoxville’s manager post, he became acquainted with the branch by serving as a senior engineer in its geotechnical and construction materials services departments.  He has 17 years of hands-on experience in numerous engineering and environmental disciplines.

“Randy Martin has built a reputation among our clients as a dependable and well-informed manager who finds solutions for engineering and environmental problems,” said Randy Neuhaus, president of S&ME.  “I have a personal interest in having such a skilled and experienced manager at the controls in one of our most important branches.  I opened that branch 21 years ago and was its manager for 14 years.”

Martin succeeds Vice President Michael Stomer who was promoted to the new position of client manager.  Stomer had managed the Knoxville branch since 2002.  His new duties include client relations with several large regional clients, and he will also provide support in area business development efforts, major Knoxville projects and in consulting with Knoxville professional staff.
