We are pleased to announce the promotion of two S&ME employee-owners to Technical Principals. 

Our Technical Principals actively support our company’s success by providing value-added engagement within their respective areas of expertise, acting as technical resources on significant projects. Their technical knowledge is one of the cornerstones of our company and a differentiator to our clients’ projects. 

 

Michael Revis, PE 

Principal Engineer, Project Manager 

Geotechnical Service Line 

Spartanburg, SC 

 Michael Revis, PE has 30 years of experience and is based in Spartanburg, SC. He is skilled in retaining wall design, shallow and deep foundation design, ground improvements, settlement and slope analysis, and risk management. Mike is a leader in the Spartanburg office and a cornerstone of S&ME’s Quality and Risk Programs.

With specialized knowledge in geotechnical and construction services; particularly retaining wall design, Mike provides senior review and oversight on projects across the company. His expertise extends to ground improvement techniques, including Controlled Aggregate Piers (CAPs) and Rigid Inclusions (RIs), but his reputation for innovative wall design and dedication to safety distinguish him.

Mike collaborates with prominent clients like Duke Energy, Jacobs, and Fluor, contributing to high-profile projects in the southeast with precision and reliability. In addition to his technical acumen, he plays a critical role in loss prevention and risk management, offering guidance during construction and resolving post-construction challenges.

Mike is a registered engineer in GA, NC, SC, VA, and WV. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

 

David Swoap, PE 

Principal Engineer, Project Manager 

Geotechnical Service Line 

Greenville, SC 

David Swoap, PE has 38 years of experience and is based in Greenville, SC.  David is skilled in Geo-Structural design of retaining walls (MSE, soil nail, concrete, tieback, soldier piles, reinforced earth), structural design of mat foundations and drilled shafts, geotechnical shallow and deep foundation design,  settlement analysis, and risk management.

David is a key member of the Greenville office and S&ME’s Quality and Risk Programs, recognized for his leadership in geo-structural design. He has been instrumental in developing the geo-structural practice, providing senior review and project management for both geo-structural and geotechnical projects. David is highly respected for his expertise, having established design guidelines for drilled shafts, mats, and concrete walls. He actively mentors younger staff, promotes a strong safety culture, and supports offices across the company with design efforts. With a diverse client base, including nationwide cell tower clients, David’s contributions are valued both within S&ME and the broader industry.

David is a registered engineer in NJ, PA, SC, NC, AR, MO, MD, OK, and NM.
