Hon and Cox Published in Geophysical Journal
October 14, 2016
Congratulations to Kevin D. Hon, PG and Jason B. Cox, PG for their recent article published in the Geophysical Journal FastTIMES. The article can be read in its entirety by following link on the title: “Multi-Method Geophysical Exploration of the McMinn County Airport.” The case study follows the geophysical group’s exploration focused on karst conditions at the airport located just north of Chattanooga, TN. Their study was the initial phase of a large geotechnical project that S&ME is performing at the airport. The article is an interesting read that discusses multiple methods employed to identify various subsurface features. The geophysics provided a cost-effective means to assist the geotechnical boring program that was used to develop a remediation program.
FastTIMES, an electronic newsmagazine for the near-surface geophysical sciences, has been published quarterly by the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society since 1998. It showcases novel uses of near-surface geophysics in a manner that is intended to be interesting to geophysicists as well as accessible to others who may be interested in using geophysics.
