Matt Moler is a Vice President, Senior Project Manager, and Geotechnical Services Area Manager for five of S&ME’s offices in North and South Carolina. He is also the Office Principal in the Greensboro, North Carolina office. He supports his clients and internal team members with guidance, mentorship, and good ‘ole fashion hard work. Matt’s background has typically focused on geotechnical, construction materials testing, and Special Inspection services for a wide range of projects across multiple markets. He has managed numerous large and complex projects involving multiple S&ME services and office locations.
Matt’s leadership style is based on the Golden Rule. He treats others as he would want to be treated, including clear and consistent communication, being responsive, and being enjoyable to be around. He expects a lot of himself and also those working with him. He would never ask someone to do something that he would not do himself, and he is often “in the trenches” supporting and encouraging those around him. Matt believes in the importance of establishing clear expectations, then holding folks accountable. There are often many ways of doing something successfully, and Matt openly gathers feedback and insights from others before making a decision. Matt enjoys the process of identifying an individual’s strengths and empowering them to capitalize on their abilities. He loves to ignite people’s passions, so they genuinely enjoy what they do each day for S&ME. Matt’s business mantra is that “the most effective leaders are striving to make those individuals in their charge effective leaders as well.” This is what he strives to do with individuals within his area and companywide.
Outside of S&ME, Matt is on the Board of Directors for the Geoprofessional Business Association. In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, reading, fishing, and spending time with his wife and three children.
