Chuck Black, PE, M. ASCE, LEED AP serves as the Client Development Leader for S&ME’s Environmental Business Unit.  In his role Chuck promotes customer service and empowers our staff to build relationships with clients in their local communities and market areas.  He dedicates his efforts to assure that every contact point we have with a client is a positive experience for them. Chuck’s mantra is, “Learn something, make someone happy, and do it with enthusiasm!”  Striving to be intentional in his interactions with clients, Chuck encourages others to do the same.

As a Professional Engineer, Chuck is also fiercely dedicated to his profession.  He currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Geotechnical Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Board of Directors of the American Council of Engineering Companies for South Carolina (ACEC-SC), and as the Chair of the Environmental Committee of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.  He is a former member of the ASCE Board of Direction, former president of the ASCE South Carolina Section, former president of the ASCE Eastern Branch, and former president of the Charleston Civil Engineering Club.

Chuck, also a Vice President and Senior Engineer, has been working with S&ME since 1992.  Chuck received a degree in civil engineering from Clemson University and lives in Hollywood, SC where he recently served as chair of the town’s sewer study committee.
