Ken Barry has over 30 years of experience and joined S&ME in 2003. His experience reveals an uncommon versatility of technical capabilities that range from civil design for residential developments and landfills, to environmental restoration, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, construction stormwater compliance, and stream and wetland mitigation. Prior to joining S&ME, Ken had two decades of civil and environmental engineering experience working for state and federal government agencies, a small civil consultancy, and a global EPC firm.
Ken has a special commitment to stream restoration that began with his master’s thesis studying the impact and recovery of streams exposed to excess sediment from construction activities. Since the late 1990s, he has lead project teams responsible for the design of more than 40 stream restoration projects. He is also a frequent presenter on stream restoration at regional and national conferences.
A graduate of Tennessee Technological University (BS, civil engineering) and Clemson University (MS, environmental systems engineering), he is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers as well as a professional engineer in five states.
