October 29, 2020
We are excited to be named #20 of the Largest Privately Held Entities in Raleigh-Durham by Triangle Business Journal.
The Triangle region in North Carolina is flourishing with growth due to its abundant outdoor activities, excellent food scene, world-class museums, quality of life, availability of jobs, and universities. We are proud to be involved in many projects in the region that help positively impact our community.
S&ME was established in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1973, and in 2020, it remains our headquarters and largest location. Our Raleigh office prides itself on providing our clients with responsive, reliable, and outstanding quality while building respectful relationships. Servicing the vibrant and growing Triangle region to the coast, we love collaborating with our clients on projects that help our community prosper sustainably. Our S&ME Raleigh team provides a full range of geotechnical engineering, environmental and construction services, field exploration, transportation, and non-destructive testing services.
Check out a few local projects S&ME has proudly contributed to in the Triangle region:
- Complete 540: This NCDOT project encompasses three Design-Build projects that will extend the Triangle Expressway (Interstate 540) and meet the substantial transportation, social, and economic demands of southeastern Wake County. Our Transportation team is providing multiple CEI technicians for roadway inspection, structure inspection, HiCAMS duties, and full-time personnel directly to NCDOT to review and analyze the project schedule.
- Duke Raleigh Hospital – South Pavilion: This project involved a new Central Energy Plant and 6-story South Pavilion expansion at Duke Raleigh Hospital. We provided construction materials testing and special inspections during construction of this center, which has served Wake County for more than 35 years and is ranked one of the best hospitals in North Carolina.
- Southeast Raleigh YMCA and School: The Southeast Raleigh YMCA and Wake County Elementary School was created as a public-private partnership and is the first of its kind in North Carolina. This Pre-K through 5th-grade facility is joined with a branch of the YMCA to not only offer education, but also services to families in a historically underserved community. Our Construction Services team was proud to provide construction materials testing and special inspections during the facility construction.
- Raleigh Crossing at 301 Hillsborough Street: Raleigh Crossing is a three-tower project located at the intersection of Raleigh’s thriving downtown districts and is strategically positioned to become a landmark mixed-use destination. We are providing geotechnical and environmental engineering services at the site.
