Spark Life Sciences is a 109-acre advanced life science campus in Morrisville, NC, close to the Research Triangle Park in the Raleigh-Durham region. The campus features approximately 1.5 million square feet of cutting-edge lab and bio-manufacturing space and is designed to empower all phases of life science advancement from discovery to delivery. In addition, Spark’s retail, restaurants, parks and recreation areas will ensure that employees and visitors have every convenience at their fingertips.

The site is located within the Triassic Basin geology, where soil conditions present design and construction challenges. We performed geotechnical analyses to utilize shallow rock conditions for high capacity spread foundations, offering significant savings over a deep foundation system. During construction, we carefully monitored soil moisture and compaction for slab and pavement support.

S&ME has provided geotechnical engineering during design, geotechnical consultation during construction, construction materials testing and special inspections services throughout the duration of the project.
