Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital Surgery Center Expansion

S&ME provided Special Inspections for a four-story post-tension addition supported on a shallow foundation system for Ascension Health’s Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital’s surgery expansion. Construction monitoring services including bedrock shallow foundation observations, reinforcing steel inspection, post-tensioned concrete, concrete sampling and testing, structural steel observations, and associated laboratory testing services were provided.
Saint Thomas Midtown IR 2/OR 15
Nashville, Tennessee
S&ME provided Special Inspections and Construction Materials Testing for the renovation of Level 2 Echo/Ultrasound/OR 15 within the existing St. Thomas Midtown Hospital facility, located at 2200 Church Street in Nashville, Tennessee. The renovations were performed within two areas of Level 2. Tests/observations consisted of concrete infill on metal deck at two locations within Part B; structural steel renovations of an existing stairwell; and isolated SFRM fireproofing application.
Saint Thomas Rutherford CT Scan Addition
Murfreesboro, Tennessee
S&ME provided Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections on the east portion of the existing St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital at 1700 Medical Center Parkway in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The new CT addition is one-story and approximately 1,300 SF. The new addition is supported by shallow foundations and structural steel columns. The roof required 8 moment welds. Additional construction involved concrete slab-on-grade, non-shrink grout, and post-installed anchors. Fireproofing was required on the steel members. New concrete sidewalks and asphalt pavement was constructed on the east side of the new addition.
During the construction phase, a re-design was incorporated to add additional structure square footage and changes were made to the structure at Level 4. S&ME provided additional observation and testing services for the additional construction scope of work.
