Nucor Steel Facility
The Nucor Steel Facility involves new construction of a plate mill facility and associated features. The mill footprint will be approximately 1.8 million square feet with over 2 million cubic yards of soil cut and fill. Ancillary structures include administrative/office buildings, water treatment facilities, maintenance facilities, warehouse space, and utility receiving area. Approximately 550,000 square feet of scrap storage areas are planned along with railways throughout the site which will connect to an existing CSX Line. The current project is valued near $1.8 Billion.
S&ME Special Inspectors are monitoring earthwork operations, mass concrete foundations which bear on driven piles, and slab placements with an on-site batch plant, and structural steel. Our team is providing the full range of special inspection services on the project with as many as five special inspectors on site at one time to meet schedule.
