The Ensworth High School

The Ensworth High School is located on 127 acres of historic property adjacent to Edwin Warner Park and the Harpeth River.  S&ME prepared the initial concept master plan for the 480 student, $45 million high school development. Design services included boundary and topographical surveys, site layout, grading, drainage, utility, stormwater quality, hydraulic engineering, ARAP permitting, and construction administration and inspection. The project also required extensive infrastructure considerations for utilities and multiple road widening impacts.

S&ME performed BMP analysis to determine required stormwater quality measures for compliance with local regulations. Cultural resources played a crucial part in the process. The project required relocation of existing family cemetery. The property is listed on the national historic register requiring compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966. S&ME coordinated with government agencies including the US Army Corps of Engineers, TDEC, and local SHPO offices.
