Lake Myrtle Sports Complex

S&ME provided master planning and landscape architectural services for the expansion of the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, Florida. This $7.8M project includes the development of a four-field collegiate baseball complex to complement the 13 baseball and soccer fields designed by S&ME staff. In order to balance the earthwork on the project, the plan separates the fields, which allows for integrated amphitheater seating for the north fields of the complex. The plan also features a high percentage of grassed parking in order to minimize the amount of impervious surface while still allowing the park to accommodate large tournaments with convenient parking. The design of this complex includes close coordination with the City’s Parks Department, Polk Sports Marketing, and Polk County. This expansion allows the region to compete for national-level tournaments, increasing the economic development impact potential of sporting events in Polk County.
