Gallant’s Channel Bridge

S&ME provided nondestructive testing services using the ground penetrating radar (GPR) method for Gallant’s Channel Bridge in Beaufort, NC. A high-speed air-coupled GPR system with a GPS for positioning support was used along a total of about 6.5 linear miles of bridge deck to determine steel reinforcement concrete cover thickness across the newly constructed structure. S&ME presented the results to the client via a color-coded data plot and project stationing to use for construction quality control and compliance with NCDOT specifications.
