Hominy Creek
The project entails the stabilization of two linear sections of Hominy Creek near Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The erosion along the banks of the creek encroached on the Dominion Energy NC natural gas easement and had the potential to expose the T-072 gas transmission line, which runs parallel to the creek. Each section of repair encompassed approximately 225 to 250 linear feet of the creek bank and included hard armoring with redi-rock and natural boulders. Soft armoring utilizing bio-D blocks was also incorporated into the bank stabilization design.
