Navistar Engine Assembly Plant

In 2006, International Truck and Engine selected Huntsville, Alabama as the location for their new Big Bore Engine Assembly plant. The plant consists of a 300,000 square foot building with tilt-up concrete walls and steel interior columns. The building rests on a slab-on-grade floor and also has associated drives and parking.

S&ME provided construction stormwater services pertaining to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program. S&ME’s environmental services included monthly and post-rainfall inspections and NPDES permit termination preparation.  Our team also performed geotechnical subsurface investigation and construction materials testing. S&ME worked with the contractor to make repairs prior to performing/completing work, thus avoiding delays.

Following completion of the facility, S&ME assisted with industrial stormwater services pertaining to the NPDES program. These services included preparation of the facility general NPDES permit Notice of Intent, developing the required Best Management Practices Plan and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan, preparing the permits for the above-ground storage tanks, and performing the required annual stormwater sampling and reporting.
