Caldwell Elementary School Addition

The S&ME Huntsville team provided support on an expansion project at Caldwell Elementary School in Scottsboro, Alabama. The additions included a 9,000-square-foot gymnasium and a 14,000-square-foot classroom expansion of the existing school building which also serves as a storm shelter. Construction consisted of shallow foundations, slabs-on-grade, steel framed/concrete masonry structures with brick/metal panel exteriors, and an elevated slab on metal decking above the classroom expansion.

Our teams provided special inspections including earthwork testing, concrete testing, and masonry testing. Special Inspections and construction testing field reports were prepared daily by our personnel and provided to the general contractor’s on-site representative.
