Nuclear

nuclearOver the past four decades, S&ME has provided an integrated approach to solving engineering and environmental issues associated with complex facility and construction projects within the nuclear industry. Today, we are poised to assist the nuclear industry in meeting net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. As new technologies and infrastructure are developed, S&ME is well-positioned to address the technical challenges and safety and quality assurance/quality control requirements involved in these complex projects. We excel through our practice of high industry standards and passion for continuous improvement. Our experience encompasses services that impact nuclear facilities at all stages of the project lifecycle, including siting and permitting, construction, and operational support. Typical services include: Geotechnical Analysis and Site Characterization, Environmental Studies and Natural/Cultural Resources, Construction Materials Testing, Civil Design, and NRC support. For example, our teams can support construction materials testing during an outage upgrade, geotechnical and environmental site assessments during the Combined License (COL) Application process for a new power reactor, groundwater assessments, channel stabilization, and more.

Quality Assurance Programs

S&ME maintains a 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and NQA-1 compliant Quality Assurance Program that has been successfully audited by the Nuclear Procurement Issues Committee (NUPIC), the Nuclear Industry Assessment Committee (NIAC), as well as many owners, operators, and EPCs. This allows us to perform safety-related work for nuclear power-generating utilities and for DOE and NNSA projects.
